This post is specifically relating to examining Jordan Peterson in the context of human design. It will not be relevant to people outside that community.
JPs birth time is unknown. Possible charts have him as a 5/1, 5/2 or a 6/2. Some of his supporters claim he is functioning as a heretic, however 12 rules of life seems to indicate he wants to be seen as a role model, and young men treat him as one.
If he is a 5/1, he needs to have a solid foundation or he will be persecuted—which he seems to be.
Some people have said that Jordan is a 5/1 and is misrepresented because people project on him, aka he is not what people say. My experience is that the 5/1 is not just projected on. It’s like Neptune. It also distorts and projects itself, especially as a notself 5/1 function. From what I have seen it involves the inability to see the other clearly, with projected blame, finger pointing and accusations, and contradiction verging on hypocrisy. Here is a list of Jordan Peterson projections.
Before 9pm as a 5/1, he has an undefined root. Along with the head this would create a ‘pressure sandwich’. My initial observation was that this was likely not the case as his schedule was so intense and he seemed to be coping, however as time went on he seems to coped less well and it seems to be causing quite a strain on him. So perhaps that it is the case. Although, even a year into touring, he said it’s demanding because everything is scheduled so tightly with no room for error, with a lecture every night… they comment how well he looks. I just can’t see how that could be the case with an open head and open base. Link
Young men seek to emulate him as a role model. This phenomena of him being seen as a father figure (Sounds like you just want Jordan Peterson to be your daddy but okay) resonates with being a sixth line being.
Much of my writing here is devoted to demonstrating why he is not a good role model and why some aspects of his advice are problematic, especially for the general population who are not-self/not aware of human design, and may be thus led even deeper in their notself.
Regarding his ideas being new or mutative: Jordan is primarily collective (3 channels) with a lot of tribal energy (one channel). He has only a few hanging individual gates (the 24, 1, 55 and maybe 57). Few, if any, of his ideas are new, they are all a rehash of existing information and the status quo (which he explicitly advocates for).
In regard to the conditioning effect on young men who are motivated by JP…
‘That is, those people that can look into you and try to pull you, they try to pull you by getting you to recognize your nature and turn it into something motivated. They try to pump you up. This has nothing to do with the role of the Hermit. The role of the Hermit is to avoid such conditioning in order to have an opportunity to be awake.’
He has only one 2nd line (aside from possible 5/2 or 6/2 profile).
JP has an undefined head centre, which no real ideas of its own and isn’t really certain of anything; he acknowledges that’s when he is lecturing he is having a conversation with one person and figuring it out as he goes (eg in his convo with Russell brand). This means he is capable of channelling beautiful and insightful thoughts, the problem they’d they are filtered through defined ajna with its own theories, concepts and opinions and combined with deep, fear based biases. Someone so open-minded has none of their own consistent ideas to followed as an ideological or philosophical leader—when they give authority to the mind. (he does have consistent (conservative) feelings about the status quo and a women’s place and marxism and the importance of the bible).
He is consistently living the ‘juxtaposition cross of possession’ regardless of birth time, making him controlling of those close to him. With this cross he has a fixed fate.
His authority is emotional. He seems to honour this as far as he prefers to take time to respond to things.
Regardless of profile, he is a manifestor. The mark of a not self manifestor is anger. In Jordan’s case, there seems to be large amounts of suppressed rage, zero humour, and minimal peace. This suggests he is not operating correctly. This is likely the case given the extent to which he operates from the mind.
Jordan’s approach (eg this interview) is that we all need to be aggressive. This is an outdated seven-centred mode of being. At best is only appropriate for the 8% of people who are manifestors, non specific to the male gender. It should not be externalised as advice for the general population.
His approach is that we need to use our minds to make sense of the world. This is an outdated seven model. We need to use strategy and authority.
His approach is to make generalised recommendations with the intention of providing structure and orientation. This is the best he can do without the differentiation HD provides. He can talk about archetypes (even in 12 rules) but not understand their unique expression, his advice lacks nuance. This makes his advice misguided.
For example (with thanks to Therese): JP wanting us to stick to them (like how he hates Disney´s “Frozen” because the prince is not the savior but the princess finds herself without this male symbol of (inner) animus) – Ra for sure would just laugh and say that if it is correct for the girl to have no prince, well then nobody is there to critizise her for that, as long as she followed her S&A – HUGE difference in the outcome, even though they both started off from looking at archetypes 🙂
JP & Ra agree:
1b: types are a Pareto distribution
2: there is fem & masc energy
JP diverges when he conflates having penis with yang energy. Yang manifestors are 8% and there’s no reason to expect anything other than 50/50 male and female sex. Which basically extends to him being wrong about the construction of men dominating women being naturalistic, as it suggests these hierarchies are not correct according to our energetics.
JP subscribes to the idea of left and right brain hemispheres; ra says ‘As a matter of fact, it has become a deeply homogenized way of understanding the nature of the brain; The duality is left brain/right brain. This is what science says. I have a problem with that. I don‟t mean to be cute, but it‟s fun. It‟s true. I have a real problem with that. And the real problem with that is that everything about the nature of science, everything about what we understand as science, all of that comes from the Ajna Center; science is fooled by way in which the right side of the Ajna operates. And I‟ll get to that. Science does not understand what this is for.
JP also denies the existence of the patriarchy, and denies that it is a construction. He is deeply identified. Ra acknowledges the existence of the patriarchy and the fact it is constructed;
‘We’ve had thousands of years of people juicing up the Personality, thousands of years. The whole patriarchy, god is male, all this stuff—pumping, pumping, pumping, pumping, pumping. It’s the form principle.’
Thought experiment: how would JP react to HD?
1. He’d like the idea that he is god
2. He would not want to surrender the authority of his mind
‘I used to have the vanity of thinking that intellect was ahead of the body and that’s a real not-self thought.’ -Ra
HD sees us as evolving, with mutation (via individual circuitry) a fundamental part of that).
JP sees our nature as fixed, basing roles and behaviour on evolutionary biology. This is very limited.
JP denies the existence of transgenderism. Ra acknowledged it.
JP is a self-help guru who says people need to work on themselves with the attitude of ‘go out there and do it’ (manifestor projected onto generators and projectors). He has a shaming approach.
‘Without [HD] education human beings do not have a possibility to see that what they are is not an embarrassment. What they are is not something that has to be refined and improved, that it is not something that has to be perfected because it is exactly what it is supposed to be, an aspect of the totality, an aspect of the spectrum of things.’ -Ra
JP talks about how amazing it is to be in the right place at the right time… he doesn’t have the 46 or 11! (The 46 meets his hanging gate 29 on the undefined sacral). He doesnt know anything about that. He only has the preceding 26.6: “one of the most frustrating things for the 26.6 is that it is trying to figure out exactly the right time and place, because everything about the 26.6 is the recognition that the Ego only gets respect through its correctness of action, only then can it truly be an authority.”
Conscious 26 earth… ‘Fools are liars and prophets too, for they can never know if what they say is true. They just have to wait and see… From the mouth of the great liar can also come the great truth.
26.5 power of memory which maximizes the potential of the ego to attract others.
‘The tribe expects to be exaggerated to. It is very important for the tribe. It likes that. This is the best refrigerator, the best car, the best country. Exaggeration is part of the way of getting the tribe to feel good. ‘
Bridging gates 20-10:
“Awakening is not a commitment to becoming something, it is a commitment to being oneself.”
Jordan advocates morality which is based around becoming something better than what we are. This is the essence of self help.
“It is the 10th gate which ensures the perfection of our form and its survival and the conviction which guides it“>> this energy is absent.
JP has the 57 as a hanging gate. His sacral is undefined, and he doesn’t have the 34. The 34 is the display of power (although it is not violent, it is for survival). JP talks about how displays of dominance prevent conflict between males. This is a notself theme for him, he doesn’t have that energy.
‘Antidote to chaos’ (the name of 12 rules of life): Jordan is very afraid and warns about the dangers of too much chaos, advocating for order and the status quo.
‘The confusion is not the enemy. This is so important to understand. Confusion is natural before mutation can take place. Out of confusion comes this mutation. Out of this transcendence comes a new order which is not simply a new regulation or a new controlling.’
Jordan talks about needing to confront the dragon but he doesn’t understand this process of mutation, because he’s not an individual being. And isn’t designed to practice what he preaches. Which makes an end result that’s quite contradictory.
JP: ‘Belief in the purely destructive element of rules and structure is frequently conjoined with the idea that children will make good choices about when to sleep and what to eat, if their perfect natures are merely allowed to manifest themselves. These are equally ungrounded assumptions’.
Ra: ‘Generators have energy problems. It‟s why I talk about the need for abandoning bedtimes for Generator children. Let their Sacrals determine what will be their bedtime. By the way, it will regulate. It will self-regulate. There‟s a point of exhaustion that they get to and it becomes a regular phenomena for them. But you can‟t orchestrate that timing. It is about energy.’
In 12 rules, Jordan writes about disciplining children, telling them when and what to eat and when to sleep. Without understanding of PHS, this is disastrous. He also writes that true creativity is limited. This is a projection of his own experience as a tribal/collective, which he attempts to say is scientific. Link
[aside from that, his general tone talking about children is at times distasteful or angry, he lacks understanding of the solid body of work on secure attachment and over ascribes dominance as the motivation for behaviours. Like all his work, it is at times engaging or even accurate yet remains fundamentally flawed]
Constant use of ‘that’s not good’ is mind based judgemental moralising. It is the counter point to the recommendation to surrender to what is as we are and it is, as the movie.
‘You have inside yourself the best of your design and the worst. The best is actually the same as the worst since there is no morality here. The only difference is whether you are enjoying the ride. And the only way to enjoy the ride is to live your design and honor you authority. If you don’t do that then you will be the same person, but you won’t like yourself at all.’ -Rave ABC
‘The heretic is at its greatest when they attack the framework of behavior that has to be changed.
In order to change the behavior of society, what has to be dealt with and challenged is the underlying tradition out of which that behavior has risen. Practical provisions, otherwise expect to be sacrificed.’
[here I am attempting to attack the framework of JPs ideas rather than him himself, though that is sometimes not clear enough 😅 -ed]
Ra talking about the cross of planning coming to an end.
Jordan can feel the end of the masculine order, the death of the Dog Star. He thinks he can blame humanities departments and crazy feminists and Marxists for it. He thinks that will stop it or change it and explicitly argues for maintaining the status quo (taken as far as his book being named the antidote to chaos). He doesn’t have ‘the serenity to accept the things he cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference’.
Ra spoke about the way the change from cross of planning to cross of sleeping Phoenix will result in a change in the way we bond, where it is no longer about bargaining and agreements and it more selfish. Jordan criticises this change, which is already evident, again blaming it on feminists, and advocates enforced monogamy and a return to previous ways of being.
24 mins… ‘Olympus…. seven centred beings always argue. The notself mind loves through arguments Winners, losers, the whole strategic thing. The nine centred being is not here to judge anything that comes through anyone…. how are you going to judge uniqueness?’ -Ra
Tell that to Jordan’s lobsters
Notions of power.
[2.36] ‘true power is not something that can be seized, true power comes in response to life, it comes from the energy of alignment with your authentic self’ –Karen curry Parker
JP only sees it as something to be seized like an aggressive lobster
[3.00] ‘When we see someone we aspire to be like, that person is living in a profoundly aligned state’.
I don’t think people aspire to JP because of his energetics. His energetics are aggressive and strained. I think it’s because they identify with his mind trip.
[3.48] The question we are all grappling with is ‘how do we live being true to ourselves’
JP doesn’t answer this question in a way which allows for differentiation. He is seemingly a proponent for the individual, as far as he is a liberal/capitalist, but the identity he advocates for is a homogenised one. He thinks it’s okay to make generic prescriptive rules. He doesn’t say ‘clean your room but only if your sacral says so’, he says ‘everyone ‘should’ ABC [although to be fair, in the sense that cleaning your room is metaphorical, the process of knowing yourself and deconditioning from the notself is advice that can be given]. He doesn’t accept that the gene map for the gates can apply equally to both sexes- that a female generator can have the 34 of force with the cross of penetration making her strong, competent and disagreeable, and that a male can be a reflector who needs lots of rest, is easily overwhelmed by the sacral and base energy of those around him, and is essentially agreeable. JP advocates for pairbonding in a monogamous relationship as the foundation for happiness of all beings. This is not correct for many—a female quad split is not designed to reproduce and live in monogamy. A single definition can be just as happy and fulfilled living their whole life single. Because he doesn’t understand human design and differentiation, he generalises his reality in a way which creates homogenised prescriptions which will be deeply incorrect for some people.
